OpenPBS is essentially version 2 of PBS Professional. Since that time the two code lines have branched. Since Open PBS did contain an open source license some other workload management systems have used this code as the basis for their products. They may have made small alterations to superficial functionality but for the most part they are still PBS under the hood. They for the most part use the three daemons provided by PBS and may contain graphical interfaces on top of PBS functionality. In the future all development resources for PBS will go into the “Professional” version which is now the core component of the PBS GridWorks Suite of products for high performance computer system workload management.
