What is a MOM?

Recommended Posts

You may hear from time to time our support personnel and documentation talk about a "Mom" running a job. This refers to the execution node daemon in PBS Professional. A single execution node is called a MOM which stands for "machine oriented miniserver". To extend this concept you may also hear the term "mother superior" referring to the controlling node of a multinode job. All nodes involved in a multinode job are referred to as "sisters" in the "sisterhood" of that job.
